ASUU vs FG : The cry of a university student

I HOPE THAT DAY IS NEAR 
(... The cry of a university student) 

Two elephants wrestle
The grasses beneath suffer
It ends eventually.
For the elephants,
It's business as usual.
But can the same be said 
 for the grass?

If you only know 
The horror that strike is 
You would curse it 
They tell us it is for our good
 and yet nothing to compensate our wasted months,
 and sometimes years.

Two months are gone
And still counting on.
Should we blame the leaders 
 For having no shame?
Or the people 
who elected them again and again?

Our law has failed us 
It has lost its power to enforce
When deceit created a hedge
And lies became a fence
Who shall we run to for help?

I look forward to that day
And I hope that day is near
When we'd happily entrust our lives,
 Our hopes, our dreams, our future
In the hands of our leaders
In the hands of the law
...I hope that day is near.
