Former Ondo state Governor Segun Agagu is dead
Dr Olusegun Agagu, the immediate past governor of Ondo State is dead.
He was reported to have slumped on friday, 13th of September at 8pm while at a meeting with Ondo state indigenes in Ikoyi, he was later rushed to a private hospital in Yaba, and later to Military hospital Ikoyi, where he was confirmed dead.
The ex governor returned from the United States of America on thursday after spending 3 weeks abroad, the actual cause of death is still unknown.
Olusegun Kukomo Agagu was born on the 16th of February 1948, he began his primary education at St Luke's primary school Okitipupa in 1954, he later concluded his primary education at Ebenezer African Primary School, Ibadan in 1960.
He gained admission at the age of 20 to study Botany, which he later changed to Geology, he was an exceptional student and graduated in the Second class upper division at the age of 23. His thirst for knowledge drove him to pursue a master's degree in the University of Texas.
Between 1973 and 1974, he obtained his Masters degree from the University of Texas, one would assume that he would stop there, however on returning to Nigeria, he got his doctorate degree in Petroleum Geology from the Univeristy of Ibadan at the age of 30.
Dr Agagu was one time Minister of Aviation in 1999, under President Olusegun Obasanjo's Administration, he later went on to be the Governor of Ondo State from the 29th of May 2003 to February 2009.
There is no doubt, Ondo state has really lost a legend, may his soul rest in peace.
